Laborers International Union Local 1298 is a progressive, diversified trade union that represents union laborers, who work as skilled laborers in the construction industry in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Long Island, New York.

Founded in 1938, Local 1298 has over 1500 members and is a charted local union for the Laborers International Union of North America. The Laborers International Union of North America is one of the largest unions in the AFL-CIO and has some 500,000 members throughout the United States and Canada.

If you have not received a call from the hiring hall, please contact the Union office immediately and verify your contact telephone numbers. A number of members have become unreachable at the contact numbers currently on file.
Remember your re-registration date for the shape list. As the dates are different for each member, it is very important to re-register on your date to retain your position on the list.
Hard Hats / Vests
If you are in need of a replacement hardhat and or vest, they are available at the hiring hall. Make sure that you have your old hardhat and or vest, to turn in. Hardhats and or vests, are also available for purchase.
You are responsible for paying $40.00 per month union dues. The Constitution states, "Dues are due the first day of the month and must be paid by the last day of the second month or the member is deemed suspended by the Laborers’ International Union without notice." Please note that you must hold a union book/card in order to hold a union job. Contractors/Employers are notified immediately of suspensions.
You should have your union book/card stamped every time you pay dues.
You can pay your dues at the union hall or over the phone any time during normal office hours.
You can pay dues at the union meetings.
You can mail your book/card and payment to Local 1298, 681 Fulton Avenue, Hempstead, NY 11550; your book/card and receipt will be mailed back to you.
